Mobile Phone Usage

I read an article which says, using mobile phones does not cause cancer. It says mobile phones are highly unlikely to cause cancer, but the impact of long term usage has not yet been discovered.

At the same time I read another article which says, “Researchers have found in a study, funded by some of the world’s biggest phone makers, that radiations emitting from mobile phones cause headaches and interrupt vital sleep patterns.”

But what I felt after reading these articles was no one is 100% sure about what they tell. People do research for the sake of doing that and publish their results. We can’t blame anyone for that. That’s the nature of what we so called “research”. So, to be on the safe side we have to use our mobile phones accordingly.

Do you know these things ?-"Energy Usage of computers"

It is said that a typical desktop computer uses about 65 to 250 watts. When your computer sleeps ("standby") the the computer utilizes 1-6 watts. A screen saver that shows any image on the screen doesn't save any energy at all -- you save energy only if the monitor goes dark by going into standby mode.If you turn the monitor off at the switch it will use 0 to 10 watts.
Laptop computers use about 15-45 watts, far less than desktops.

So what can you do?

  • You can set power settings of your computer in such a way that monitor goes sleep after few minutes(eg:20 mins)
  • If you can use a LCD monitor. It uses less energy.
  • Turn off your computer when you finish your work for day.
  • Laptops also consumes less energy. (So its time to buy a Laptop..Isn't it? :))

Self Learning

I believe in self learning. Do you?

If you want to learn some thing, don’t wait until some other come and teach you. Try it out by your self. You may go wrong. But the important thin is the experience you gain. Sometimes you may feel disrupted. You may feel to give up. In such a case, imagine the joy and the satisfaction you can feel once you complete that.

You may forget what you were taught by others. But not the thing you self-learnt. Depending on somebody else??? How does it feel? Think..

However there are circumstances you can learn form others. The idea I am pointing out here is not to neglect others or what you can learn from others. It is just to tell you, “Believe in yourself”.

Hot

It is hot. Oh we cannot bear this warm. These days we can hear these types of things everywhere. Why is this? The climate seems very strange. When we walk in the road, the dust is everywhere.

We scold the nature. We scold the sun. But the nature doesn’t have to do anything regarding these matters. It is our responsibility. We destroy trees without any purpose. We destroy the equilibrium of the nature in so many ways. Then we scold the nature. But think twice. It is our fault.

So dear friends lets do at least one good thing on behalf of the nature (on behalf of ourselves). If you have space, plant at least one tree. Without much effort you can do this. It will contribute to a better future.

Terrible Traffic

Have you ever experience the traffic jam? I am sure you have at least experience this annoying thing once. What a waste of time. Think how much fuel is wasted because of this. What we can do about this. We can do nothing about the traffic. But we can aviod it.

If you are a student try to come early to your institute. It will save your time. On the other hand you can utilize your time efficiently by spending that additional time for your studies.

If you are driving your own vehicle, use alternative routes. If possible try to go to the office early. If your employer is flexible on working hours, try to get the maximum usage of this by coming early and leaving the office early. This will save your valuable time as well as a lot of fuel. So it is easy for your pocket also. Think about the stress you feel when you stuck in a traffic jam. How uncomfortable? So try to avoid traffic times as much as possible as it is good for your health too.

Lets Save Energy

Hi guys,

As the first posting on this blog I thought of writing about saving energy. People don’t take this matter as serious. But the whole world is facing a problem due to scarcity of sources energy. So try to save energy as much as you can. Think about it as one of your social responsibilities. Here are some tips.

  • Don't leave lights on when no one is in the room. If you are going to be out of the room for more than five minutes, turn off the light

  • Use recycling wherever possible
  • Turn off your monitor when you leave your office or computer lab
  • Use CFL bulbs as much as you can

  • Turn off the TV when no one is watching it
